This policy explains what we collect when you join ZEAL as a member or apply as an agent, and how that information is used. It sits alongside the Terms and conditions.
Who we are
ZEAL is a political party based in Nairobi, Kenya. Membership questions can be sent to [email protected] or +254714306754.
What we collect
When you create an account we store your name, email address, and, if you provide them, your phone number and profile photo. Members also record the county, constituency, or ward seat they are seeking, a short biography, and the membership plan they choose. Agents record the county they work in.
If you sign up with email and password, we store a hashed password, not the password itself. If you continue with Google, we receive the name, email address, and profile image Google shares with us, and we store Google's account identifier so you can sign in again.
Membership fees are paid through Pesapal. We store the amount, plan, payment status, and Pesapal reference. Pesapal processes the card or mobile-money details; ZEAL does not store your full card number.
Why we use it
We use this information to create your account, confirm you accepted these terms, approve agent desks, collect membership fees, and show paid, active members on the public roll. Agents can see the members they registered so they can pay fees for them. Party administrators can see members, agents, plans, and payments in order to run the party.
The public roll
After a membership is paid and the account is active, the member's name, photo, short biography, and the seat they are seeking may appear on the public members page. Unpaid or suspended accounts are not shown there.
How long we keep it
We keep membership records for as long as the account exists and for as long as the party needs them to show who joined, who paid, and which agent recruited them. You can ask us to correct your name, phone number, photo, or biography from your profile, or by email.
Your choices
You can refuse optional profile details. You cannot join without a name and email, and you cannot pay a fee without a seat and a plan. The Kenya Data Protection Act, 2019 gives you the right to ask what we hold, to ask for a correction, and to complain to the Office of the Data Protection Commissioner.
